Massachusetts Police, Sheriff’s Department arrest 33, send 8 criminal summons in ‘Operation Fall Cleanup’

Over two dozen people were arrested in a combined effort operation this week.

According to Massachusetts State Police, on Monday, law enforcement agencies conducted a joint zero-tolerance operation targeting criminal activity and quality-of-life issues in Brockton.

The effort — conducted by Brockton Police, Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department — resulted in 33 arrests and criminal summonses for 8 others.

The multi-agency law enforcement action, dubbed Operation Fall Cleanup, resulted in charges for a range of offenses, from trafficking a Class B narcotic to unlicensed motor vehicle operation.

Troopers and Brockton Police Detectives made five narcotics arrests overall. Another defendant was charged with shining an ultra-bright flashlight on a Massachusetts State Police helicopter that was providing overwatch support for the operation. The flight crew aboard MSP Air 5 also assisted officers on the ground by alerting them to negligent and reckless drivers. This included those using cars, trucks, SUVs, scooters, dirt bikes, and other recreational vehicles.

Another suspect, when questioned by police, provided a false name and identification card. After the man was fingerprinted, Troopers determined his true identity and learned that he was the subject of arrest warrants for drug trafficking.

MSP sections and units that participated in the operation were Troop D, including the Troop D Community Action Team, Air Wing, Traffic Programs Section, Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Gang Unit, and Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction and Enforcement Team.

Brockton Police Divisions involved in Operation Fall Cleanup included the Detective Bureau, Patrol Division, and the Traffic Enforcement and Control Unit. The Brockton Emergency Management Agency also assisted.
