Massachusetts police officer dies suddenly Saturday night
A veteran of the Barnstable Police Department for almost two decades has passed away according to the department.
Sgt. Jason Sturgis was a 19 year veteran of the Department and had previously been assigned to the Community Impact Unit before returning to the Patrol Division.
Sturgis died suddenly Saturday.
Sturgis was promoted to Sergeant in 2017.
Many condolences have been pouring into the department this afternoon.
