Massachusetts passes 16,000 confirmed/probable COVID-19 deaths

Massachusetts saw a decrease in cases and hospitalizations in Friday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts saw 1,734 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Thursday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 1.90%. Yesterday’s rate of 1.85% was the lowest it had been since October 25th.

Massachusetts had seen 1,928 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 547,358 with 46 more reported dead (46 confirmed, 0 probable) for a total of 16,024 (15,703 confirmed, 321 probable).

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 15,997,259 after 102,584 new molecular tests.

The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is currently 36.6.

Estimated active cases saw a rare increase as of late to 30,983.

Hospitalizations have increased in 92 of the last 161 days and 67 of the last 120 and saw another decrease of 46 to lower the total to 807. COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to decrease as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. November 15th was the last time that COVID-19 hospitalizations were this low.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the February 25th report, Fall River has a 27.0 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (44.8 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 31.6 (was 50.3). Westport also saw a decrease to 26.4 (was 42.2), Swansea is at 27.3 and was 39.9 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 22.8 (was 27.4). Freetown decreased to 35.5 from 45.0. Dartmouth is currently at 27.7 after seeing 42.4 last week. Acushnet has the highest rate in Bristol County at 41.7 (was 50.6).

As of February 26th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 28,212,548 cases of COVID-19 with 506,834 reported deaths.
