FALL RIVER, Mass. — The Massachusetts National Guard is holding an official rededication and reopening ceremony of the Sgt. Robert J. Barrett Fall River Armory on Monday, November 9th.

The facility at 1089 Dwelly Street is being officially reoccupied following the completion of an extensive multi-year renovation project valued at 20 million dollars. The National Guard states that the modernized facility enhances operational and tactical readiness for its resident military units, brings the historic infrastructure up to modern building and environmental codes, and restores space for local civic gatherings and community rentals.

The armory honors the sacrifice of Sgt. Robert J. Barrett, a native of Fall River who served with the 101st Field Artillery Regiment and was killed in action while deployed to Afghanistan in 2010.
