Massachusetts man’s thirst turns into big plans and a $1 million State Lottery win

When a Massachusetts man went to quench his thirst, little did he know that it would change his life.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Darrel Polk of Hyde Park is the winner of a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$1,000,000 Snow Much Money” $5 instant ticket game.

Polk opted to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). He said he plans to use his winnings to pay off the mortgage on his house and go on vacation.

He purchased his winning ticket at Hyde Park Convenience, 59 Fairmont Ave. in Hyde Park, where he said he had stopped to get a soda. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
