Massachusetts man wins $1 million prize, plans to use money on a new house, but not the way you’d think
A Massachusetts man hit big money on a scratch ticket and plans to use the money for a new house, but not the way you’d think.
According to Massachusetts State Police, Kevin Purcell has won a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$5,000,000 100X Cashword” instant ticket game.
Purcell, who is from Nantucket, chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). A carpenter, Purcell plans to put his winnings toward building himself a house.
He purchased his winning ticket at Cumberland Farms located at 30 Sparks Ave. in Nantucket. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
