Massachusetts man released on bond after reportedly speeding while driving the wrong way on Route 395

A Massachusetts man was released on bond after reportedly speeding while driving the wrong way on a busy interstate highway.

According to Connecticut State Police, on Thursday, just before 5:30 a.m., Troop D in Danielson received multiple 911 calls reporting a black SUV, displaying a Massachusetts registration, traveling southbound, at a high rate of speed, in the northbound lanes of I-395, in Plainfield.

With the assistance of Plainfield Police, the vehicle was located and safely brought to a stop in the area of Exit 29, in Plainfield.

Investigating Troopers observed that the vehicle operator, identified as 57-year-old Craig Obrien, of North Grafton, Massachusetts, was exhibiting signs of possible impairment. After conducting an on-scene investigation and administering Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Obrien was taken into custody and transported to Troop D, where he was charged with Operating Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, and Driving Wrong Way on a Limited Access Highway.

Obrien was later released on a $500.00 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Danielson Superior Court on December 13th.
