Massachusetts man plans to give, receive, after becoming first $1 million prize winner on scratch ticket
A Massachusetts man has plans to both give and receive after hitting big money on a State Lottery scratch ticket.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Keith Mackie is the first $1 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new “50X Cash” instant ticket game.
Mackie and his son both went into a store to buy tickets. His son saw the “New” sticker displayed on the “50X Cash” game and decided to purchase one. Mackie then bought two of these tickets, one of which was the big winner.
Mackie, who is from Becket, opted to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). He plans to use his winnings to pay off the mortgage on his house, build a garage shop for himself, and help pay for his son’s wedding.
He purchased his winning ticket at Rocky Mart, 265 Housatonic St. in Lee. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
