Massachusetts man can’t believe he won but old adage still led to $1 million State Lottery prize

“You can’t win if you don’t play!” is what he said, but he still can’t believe he won.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, William Shawno Jr. of Malden has won a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$10,000,000 Lucky Bucks” $20 instant ticket game.

Shawno Jr. opted to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). He said that he purchased his winning ticket on his way home from work.

He purchased his winning ticket at Kristos Beer and Wine, 465 Essex St. in Saugus. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
