Massachusetts hits over 2,000,000 total COVID-19 tests, 7 day positive test rate drops to 1.3%

Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations in Thursday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 262 more positive cases announced in the last 24 hours. The same total from the previous 24 hour period. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate decreased to 1.3%.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 115,310 with 12 more reported dead for a total of 8,657.

Massachusetts had seen 262 more positive cases in the previous 24 hour period.

21,831 tests were performed, over 2,300 more than yesterday, to increase the overall total to 2,009,062. The amount of individuals tested is now 1,509,104.

Hospitalizations have decreased in 78 of the last 102 days, however there was an increase of 14 today to see the total rise to 379.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to August 19th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 79,187
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 76,344
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 2,843

According to the CDC, as of August 20th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 5,506,929 with 172,416 dead.
