Massachusetts COVID-19 report reveals continued decreases as active cases drop below 68,000
Massachusetts saw a decrease in deaths, cases, active cases, hospitalizations, and positive test rate in Tuesday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts saw 1,963 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Monday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate saw yet another decrease to 3.44%. Today’s rate is the lowest it has been since November 24th.
Massachusetts had seen 2,270 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 502,378 with 45 more reported dead (45 confirmed, 0 probable) for a total of 14,652 (14,362 confirmed, 290 probable).
The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 13,782,465 after 61,265 new molecular tests.
The 7 day average of COVID-19 deaths is currently 42.1.
Estimated active cases saw another decrease to 67,650.
Hospitalizations have increased in 90 of the last 139 days and 65 of the last 98, but saw a decrease of 45 to lower the total to 1,631. COVID-19 hospitalizations have continued to decrease as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. December 10th was the last time that COVID-19 hospitalizations were this low.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report
According to the January 28th report, Fall River has a 99.6 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (143.2 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 107.3 (was 133.3) and has the highest rate in Bristol County. Westport is also in the red at 63.5 (was 95.9), Swansea is at 86.0 and was 104.3 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 79.1 (was 93.7). Freetown decreased to 78.1 from 107.3. Dartmouth is currently at 68.0 after seeing 97.0 last week. Acushnet has the second highest rate in Bristol County at 105.3 (was 167.5).

• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 205,464
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 22,745
Massachusetts Officials have now also issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report updated on January 28th.
