Massachusetts COVID-19 positive test rate dips to 1.86%, lowest since October 25th
Massachusetts saw a decrease in cases, active cases, positive test rate, and hospitalizations, in Sunday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts saw 1,316 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Saturday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate has decreased to 1.86%, the lowest it has been since October 25th.
Massachusetts had seen 1,822 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 539,644 with 47 more reported dead (46 confirmed, 1 probable) for a total of 15,826 (15,508 confirmed, 318 probable).
The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 15,549,944 after 87,420 new molecular tests.
The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is currently 42.4.
Estimated active cases saw a decrease to 35,874.
Hospitalizations have increased in 92 of the last 158 days and 67 of the last 117 and saw another decrease of 43 to lower the total to 927. COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to decrease as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. November 22nd was the last time that COVID-19 hospitalizations were this low.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report
According to the February 18th report, Fall River has a 44.8 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (67.2 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 50.3 (was 62.4). Westport is also in the red at 42.2 (was 46.5), Swansea is at 39.9 and was 52.8 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 27.4 (was 50.9). Freetown decreased to 45.0 from 49.7. Dartmouth is currently at 42.4 after seeing 52.7 last week. Acushnet has the highest rate in Bristol County at 50.6 (was 73.1).

• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 251,157
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 238,006
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 13,151
Massachusetts Officials have now also issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report updated on February 18th.
