Massachusetts COVID-19 positive test rate continues climb, Fall River holds 3rd highest incident rate in state

Massachusetts saw yet another increase in active cases in Friday’s COVID-19 report that covers two days of statistics.

Massachusetts has seen 4,464 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Wednesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 3.28% from 3.00%.

Massachusetts had seen 3,224 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 211,748 with 29 more reported dead for a total of 10,635.

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 8,250,436 after 119,742 new molecular tests.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths lowered to 22.

Estimated active cases increased again to 41,852.

Hospitalizations have increased in 53 of the last 74 days and 28 of the last 33, and increased by 44 the last two days to see the total raise to 986.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to Friday’s report, Fall River has a 92.3 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (86.2 last week) which is the third highest in the state among communities in the red. New Bedford sits at 45.6 (was 39.2). Westport is also in the red at 49.0 (was 46.0), Swansea is at 69.0 after nearly doubling last week to 65.8, and Somerset saw a small decrease to 57.5 (was 58.6). Freetown also saw their rate decrease as it now sits at 31.6.

• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 126,742
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 115,755
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 10,987

As of November 27th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 12,823,092 cases of COVID-19 with 262,673 reported deaths.
