Massachusetts COVID-19 deaths lower, positive test rate, hospitalizations, continue increase

Massachusetts saw an increase in positive test rate and hospitalizations in Tuesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 821 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Monday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 1.3%.

Massachusetts had seen 827 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 142,295 with 5 more reported dead for a total of 9,537.

17,238 tests were performed on new individuals, over 400 less than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,549,525. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 5,306,041.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths lowered to 15.

Hospitalizations have increased in 23 of the last 36 days and increased by 17 today to see the total rise to 517.

It was announced yesterday that Fall River is now in the red with an 8.5% Average Daily Incidence Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days). Fairhaven sits at 9.8%. New Bedford continues to be in the red at 12.2%. Plymouth is in the red at 12.8%, Dartmouth is in at 9.7%. Berkley moves into the red at 9.5%. Acushnet remains in the red at 13.7%. Attleboro remains in the red at 12.7%.

According to the CDC, as of October 20th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 8,188,585 with 219,499 dead.
