She has also played a key role in launching new vocational programs and building community partnerships aligned with regional workforce needs.
“Diman is a beacon of opportunity for students seeking hands-on learning and career readiness,” said Weckesser. “I am honored to lead this district into its next chapter, expand opportunities for all students, and continue the strong legacy established by Superintendent Bentley. His leadership leaves big shoes to fill, and I look forward to building on that foundation as we transition into our new school.”
School Committee Chair Paul Jennings added, “Leslie Weckesser’s appointment brings stability, vision, and deep vocational expertise at a pivotal time. Her leadership will ensure Diman remains a statewide leader in career and technical education.”
According to the announcement, Williams is a respected educational leader with more than 20 years of experience across the South Coast. A New Bedford native, he began his career as a substitute teacher and went on to serve as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in both traditional and vocational settings. His leadership roles include Principal of Whaling City Junior/Senior High School, Assistant Principal at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech, and Principal of Keith Middle School, where he strengthened multilingual learner supports, improved data driven instruction, and helped drive significant academic gains. Since 2021, Williams has served as Principal of Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech, overseeing academic, vocational, and behavioral programming for more than 2,100 students.
Williams is also deeply involved in statewide vocational leadership, serving on the Mass SkillsUSA Board of Directors, chairing the MAVA Principal Leadership Group, and participating in Harvard University’s LEADS Program.
“Throughout his career, Warley Williams has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student success and community partnership,” said Jennings. “His experience, values, and leadership style make him an exceptional fit for Diman.”
Williams’ leadership philosophy centers on building strong school communities, elevating student voice, and ensuring every learner has access to meaningful opportunities
