Massachusetts COVID-19 deaths in COVID-19 cases passes 12,000, positive test rate increases

Massachusetts saw a decrease in hospitalizations in Saturday’s COVID-19 report that consists of numbers from the last 2 days.

Massachusetts has seen 7,424 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Thursday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate saw a jump to 6.32%. The rate was 3.3 on November 23rd.

Massachusetts had seen 5,655 more positive cases announced Thursday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 335,731 with 46 more reported dead for a total of 12,010.

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 10,622,490 after 108,445 new molecular tests.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths decreased to 44.

Estimated active cases decreased again to 78,086.

Hospitalizations have increased in 77 of the last 103 days and 52 of the last 62, but saw a decrease by 18 to see the total lower to 2,077.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the December 23rd report, Fall River has a 103.6 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (109.2 last week) which is a decrease and the thirteenth highest in the state. New Bedford saw a decrease to 100.9 (was 111.5) leaving them fifteenth in the state. Westport is also in the red at 68.6 (was 57.6), Swansea is at 70.8 and was 91.8 last week, and Somerset saw a slight increase to 86.0 (was 81.8). Freetown also saw their rate increase as it now sits at 83.7 from 63.1. Dartmouth is currently at 62.9 after seeing 63.7 last week.

• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 139,512
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 31,051

Massachusetts Officials have now also issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report.

As of December 26th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 18,730,806 cases of COVID-19 with 329,592 reported deaths.
