Massachusetts COVID-19 death average increases, hospitalizations decrease, U.S. passes 7,300,000 cases

Massachusetts saw a decrease in hospitalizations for the fourth straight day in Saturday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 600 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Friday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains at 1.1%.

Massachusetts had seen 753 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 131,814 with 17 more reported dead for a total of 9,292.

13,813 tests were performed on new individuals, over 7,600 less than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,287,625. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 4,265,786.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths increased to 16.

Hospitalizations have increased in 12 of the last 19 days, but decreased by 5 today to see the total lower to 416.

Today Governor Baker announced that lower risk communities in Massachusetts will soon be permitted to open certain entertainment venues.

With 8 percent putting a city or town in the red, Fall River continues to barely stay out of the red and stay a low risk community with a 7.7% Average Daily Incidence Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days). New Bedford is in the red at 9.8 making the city still a high risk community.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to September 30th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 89,948
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 86,491
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 3,457

According to the CDC, as of October 3rd, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 7,310,625 with 208,118 dead.
