Massachusetts COVID-19 current hospitalizations drop below 800 as positive test rate stays steady

Massachusetts saw a decrease in cases, active cases, positive test rate, and hospitalizations in Saturday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts saw 1,516 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Friday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate decreased to 1.85%, the same rate as Thursday, the lowest it had been since October 25th.

Massachusetts had seen 1,734 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 548.874 with 43 more reported dead (41 confirmed, 2 probable) for a total of 16,067 (15,744 confirmed, 323 probable).

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 16,105,520 after 108,261 new molecular tests.

The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is currently 36.6.

Estimated active cases saw a decrease to 30,111.

Hospitalizations have increased in 92 of the last 162 days and 67 of the last 121 and saw another decrease, this one of 22, to lower the total to 785. COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to decrease as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. November 15th was the last time that COVID-19 hospitalizations were this low.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the February 25th report, Fall River has a 27.0 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (44.8 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 31.6 (was 50.3). Westport also saw a decrease to 26.4 (was 42.2), Swansea is at 27.3 and was 39.9 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 22.8 (was 27.4). Freetown decreased to 35.5 from 45.0. Dartmouth is currently at 27.7 after seeing 42.4 last week. Acushnet has the highest rate in Bristol County at 41.7 (was 50.6).

As of February 27th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 28,285,544 cases of COVID-19 with 508,949 reported deaths.
