Massachusetts COVID-19 cases increase as U.S. sees record number of cases

Massachusetts saw another increase in cases in Thursday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 1,761 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Wednesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased again to now 1.91%.

Massachusetts had seen 1,623 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 160,698 with 23 more reported dead for a total of 9,859.

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 6,461,311 after 86,359 new molecular tests.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths increased to 17.

Estimated active cases are currently 18,279.

Hospitalizations have increased in 34 of the last 52 days, but decreased by 4 today to see the total raise to 498.

Beginning Monday, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) started posting a revised COVID-19 daily dashboard. This revised dashboard will continue to provide critical information for the public’s understanding of the current and cumulative impact of the pandemic in Massachusetts, reflecting the metrics that are most useful to track on a daily basis.

Many existing data points, including testing, deaths, and hospitalization rates, have been reorganized to report on current numbers, trends over the past six weeks, and trends going back to March.

• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 101,787
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 6,342

As of November 5th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 9,463,782 cases of COVID-19 with 233,129 reported deaths.
