CAMBRIDGE – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow have confirmed an ongoing investigation into a fatal crash involving a box truck and cyclist that occurred at about 8:20 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Hampshire Street and Portland Street.

The preliminary investigation suggests that both the truck and the bicycle were traveling in the same direction on Hampshire Street and the truck was turning right onto Portland Street at the time of the crash. The bicyclist, a 24-year-old Cambridge woman, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where she later died. The truck operator remained on scene.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Minh-Thi Nguyen, affectionately known as “Mint,” was brilliant, humble and kind. She was a 3rd year MIT physics PhD student.

This is an open and active investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Cambridge Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.

Because people who usually start GFMs are for families who don’t have the means to pay for services themselves. You’re stating the obvious by saying people can choose to contribute but she’s going to MIT at a cost of $58K a year ( that’s more than the average resident makes in a year ) and lives in Cambridge. These people aren’t exactly hurting for money.

She was a PhD student so they don’t pay tuition and are paid a stipend by the uni. If you’ve ever lived in Cambridge/Boston you’d know how expensive the cost of living is, she would’ve had no savings at all. It’s a shame that people like you feel the need to comment on a schools tuition fee structure when someone has tragically lost their life.

Responding to “Fed Up” what bothers you so much that you would comment as you did. I suspect it’s the fact that she obviously had a foreign name and looks Asian.

Yes I suspect that you’re a racist anti immigrant right winger. Who blames all of America’s problems on the least culpable among us. The minorities and immigrants. I suspect you’d like America to be more white and domestic born. I suspect that every time you see a minority or immigrant receiving any benefit, you take it as an affront to the “real Americans “ like you.

” Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt. ” Thank you for removing all my doubt. And everything else you typed is pure projection. I would agree with you but then we’d both be wrong.
