Massachusetts authorities release details after early morning shooting leaves 8 injured, 2 critically
Police in Massachusetts are investigating an incident that left over a half dozen injured.
Eight people were injured in a shooting incident at 100 Lindberg Avenue in Methuen at approximately 1:55 a.m. this morning. Seven of the victims suffered gunshot wounds and one was significantly injured in the head while fleeing the scene. The victims were transported to area hospitals and two have been listed in critical condition.
Methuen Police responded to the incident which reportedly occurred at a “pop-up” party that had been organized via social media. The victims range from age 17 to age 23. State Police detectives assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office and Methuen Police are currently investigating.
“We are actively pursuing all leads in this case,” says Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker. “We understand the horrible impact that this violence has had on the victims and their families, and we will devote all necessary resources to bring those responsible to justice.”
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events of last night,” said Chief Scott McNamara. “These acts of senseless violence do not represent the values of the Methuen community. I would like to recognize the first responders who responded to the scene in a quick and professional manner. We will continue to work together to move forward and heal as a community.”
Authorities stated that there is video camera footage of the incident.
Massachusetts State Police, Lawrence, Dracut, North Andover and Methuen Police all responded including Methuen Fire.
There have been no arrests as of 10:30 this morning.
