BOSTON – Activists organized by the Massachusetts Poor People’s Campaign and other groups kick off Saturday what they describe as a 40-week campaign playing out at 31 state capitols calling for action to “end the crisis of death by poverty in the United States.”

“In a country with so much wealth, poor and low-wealth voters are refusing to accept the myth of scarcity and instead are declaring that their votes are demands for living wages, voting rights and other policies to save lives, and save this democracy,” organizers wrote in a press advisory.

The group’s listed demands include:

-abolishing poverty as the 4th leading cause of death in the US

-a living wage ($15+)

-full voting rights

-no more voter suppression

-worker’s rights & labor rights

-healthcare for all

-affordable, adequate housing

– an end to gun violence, profit & proliferation

-clean air & water

-environmental justice

-fully-funded public education

-just immigration laws

-an end to systemic racism, white supremacy & the extremist political agenda

Attendees will include Mass. Poor People’s Campaign chairs, members of 1199 SEIU, Physicians for Social Responsibility, and several faith leaders.

The march begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Old State House on Washington Street in Boston, followed by an assembly at the 54th Regiment Memorial across from the State House at 11:00 a.m.

Bunch of Tools. If your so poor why do you have time to protest? How about spending more hours working? Make some real sacrifices besides hanging out on Facebook looking for anyone to hear your greivences. Stop with all the demands because that really pisses people off. I’ve worked since I was 10 years old. At 15 years old I had two jobs. Point is I had money in my pocket and could get the things I wanted. Communists make me sick.

No one recognizes the hard working citizens. They bend over backwards for the “victim” that could solve their own problems by first taking the initiative to work and legally do what is needed to survive. Working hard is a good start

Ok, child labor is illegal, for one.
For two, i guess you chose being a paperboy and fry chef wayyyyy too serious, since you cut off your own education for them, and dont say you went to school too, because you sound fucking stupid.

God bless this persons heart. 😂

Wow what a fact filled diatribe from someone with a 3 year career at DoorDash. Must be nice swimming in cat litter and tootsie rolls. Say something that matters besides weak
ad-hominen mumbo jumbo taught in school today and widely disseminated on Tik-Tok. Don’t take out your anger on sensible contributing members of a society that you despise. It’s not my fault that Wal-Mart ran out of your favorite purple hair dye, and that flying the Ukraine flag is no longer trendy. Keep lapping up the sewage water out of that drippy faucet in your mom’s bathroom at your cousins house, and remember, High Fructose Corn Syrup is actually Corn, be it High end GMO. Now get to Price Rite before Joe Biden seizes your March food stamps and pays off the student loans of another Harvard graduate. It will be funny to see if you’re still eating when the Fiat Currency that you seem to find difficult to obtain, collapses. Goodbye; Useless Eater.

There is nothing active about these people besides the complaints emanating from their ugly mouths. More work, less talk.
