You are never too young to be a brave hero. A young Massachusetts child can attest to that.

According to police, despite being scared, 9-year-old Karen Guzman bravely phoned 911 to report a violent attack involving a machete in Waltham.

According to CBS News Boston, Karen’s father was being attacked by neighbors after a fight that began due to a car accident with her pregnant mother going to help him.

That’s when Karen sprang into action.

Her quick thinking and actions helped to save lives and resulted in the apprehension of numerous individuals responsible.

Chief Kevin O’Connell, along with Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, presented the local hero with the Chief’s signature coin and a City of Waltham Proclamation.

According to Waltham PD, Karen is only the third person to ever receive this special award.
