Massachusetts 7 day average COVID-19 positive rate decreases to 1.5%, 18 new reported deaths

Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations for the third consecutive day in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 229 more positive cases announced in the last 24 hours. A decrease from the previous 24 hour period. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate decreased to 1.5%.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 113,198 with 18 more reported dead for a total of 8,547.

Massachusetts had seen 296 more positive cases in the previous 24 hour period.

15,693 tests were performed, over 700 more than yesterday, to increase the overall total to 1,781,548. The amount of individuals tested is now 1,353,299.

Hospitalizations have decreased in 7 of the last 94 days, but saw an increase of 35 today to see the total rise to 422.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to August 12th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 77,383
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 74,610
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 2,773

According to the CDC, as of August 12th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 5,119,711 with 163,651 dead.
