The community is still processing a crash Tuesday that left 1 teen dead, and several others injured.

According to police, at just after 2:00 a.m., Mashpee Police and Fire responded to a single vehicle crash on Carlton Drive near Swain Circle.

Upon arrival, officers found a heavily damaged Toyota Rav4.

It appears the vehicle was traveling north on Carlton Drive when the driver lost control and struck a tree.

Police and Fire personnel discovered that there were 7 people in the vehicle between the ages of 15-17. They reside in Mashpee and Falmouth.

6 of the 7 were transported from the scene to area hospitals two with life threatening injuries. A 17-year-old from Mashpee, Nolan Barr, later died from those injuries.

Barr played on both the football and basketball teams for Mashpee High School and was set to graduated next year. He was described as one of the nicest kids you would want to meet with a good sense of humor and often had a smile on his face.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created for the family.

According to an obituary, a visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151), in Mashpee. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.

In the face of tragedy, Barr’s family is using the moment to help others by directing donors to a fund that gives scholarships to Mashpee students in honor of a 20-year-old who lost his life in a car crash.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Nolan’s memory may be made to: I Got You, Inc. (The Ryan Hendricks Scholarship), 121 South Sandwich Rd., Mashpee, MA 02649 or online via Venmo OR to Laurentide at Mashpee Commons c/o Compassionate Caregivers Fund, 64 Great Neck Rd. South, Mashpee, MA 02649.
