A man has been arrested concerning the stealing of a purse at a city restaurant that was featured by Fall River Reporter.

According to ABC 6, 34-year-old Brandon Arruda was charged in the snatching at Faneek’s Coney Island at 269 Rhode Island Avenue and also had warrants for Possession With Intent to Distribute of a Class A Drug, Breaking and Entering to a Vehicle for a Felony During the Daytime, and Larceny under $1,200.

Court records show that Arruda was arrested on September 2nd and was arraigned the next day on a Larceny From a Building charge where he pleaded not guilty and was released on personal recognizance. He has a pretrial hearing scheduled for October 22nd.

At the time of the incident Fall River Reporter was approached by the victim’s husband.

“I know this is a bit of a long shot, around 11:59AM 8/29/25, this piece of trash decided to go into the backdoor of Faneek’s Coney Island and stole my wife’s purse and proceeded to drive northbound on an electric scooter toward Fiesta Mexican and Tuxedo by Sarno. The police were already notified, and my wife went to multiple other locations with cameras and people to see if there was anything to go off of, but to no avail. There were multiple items of importance that are irreplaceable, although the loss of the purse and money is greatly frustrating, we won’t be able to replace the loss of said items that money cannot buy.”

The purse was later located by a bystander in a yard in the Maple Gardens housing complex. The person notified Fall River Reporter, and the husband was contacted to retrieve the purse.

“We have grabbed the purse with the remaining contents inside. Thank you very much to you and the community for coming together to help us in this difficult time.”

On Monday, Faneek’s revealed that they are at their final straw after dealing with recent thefts, vandalism, and trash dumping.
