Man wanted in Fall River, arrested after Westport standoff
Officers arrested a man wanted by Fall River Police Thursday evening.
According to Detective Jeff Majewski, the Westport Police went to an address on Boysenberry Drive at the request of the Fall River Police Department at approximately 5:15 p.m. Thursday in response to a criminal investigation in Fall River.
Fall River Police were looking to arrest 28 year old William Deston who had been staying with relatives at that address.
Westport officers went to the address and saw Deston through a window.
The homeowner arrived and went inside to ask Deston to exit the house for the police. The homeowner came outside and told police that Deston had a knife and was not coming out. The homeowner was not threatened however.
The South Eastern MA Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC) Swat Team was called to assist Westport Police while crisis negotiators also responded.
After an approximately four hour standoff, Deston exited the house and was taken into custody.
