Man pleads not guilty concerning fatal 4 vehicle crash in Lakeville that injured several

A Lakeville man was arraigned on charges he was impaired and behind the wheel when he caused a four-car crash that killed a man and left several others injured, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.

73-year-old David DeLorenzo of Lakeville was arraigned Monday in Wareham District Court on one count each of Motor Vehicle Homicide, Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Operating Under the Influence of Liquor Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, and a Marked Lanes Violation.

DeLorenzo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Commonwealth requested that he be held on $10,000 cash bail with the conditions that DeLorenzo wear a GPS Monitoring bracelet, abide to a curfew, remain alcohol-free with testing three times per day, and not to drive during the pendency of the case. Judge Edward Sharkansky ordered DeLorenzo held on $1,000 bail with the conditions.

On Friday, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Lakeville Police received 911 calls for reports of a crash in the area of Main Street and Elliot Farm. Officers arrived on scene and found a four-vehicle crash involving a Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Camry, Audi S4, and a Chevrolet Silverado.

A passenger in the Camry, Richard Reed, 75, of Lakeville, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Camry was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

DeLorenzo, identified as the driver of the Santa Fe, was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was charged by Lakeville Police upon his release.

The driver of the Audi was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford for treatment of their injuries. The driver of Chevrolet Silverado was treated at the scene.

Massachusetts State Police and Lakeville Police are investigating the crash, which is ongoing.
