Man killed in Middleboro crash Monday evening
MIDDLEBOROUGH — Chief Joseph Perkins reports that Middleborough Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash Monday night.
Roger R. Duphily, Age 71, of Middleborough suffered serious injuries from the single-vehicle crash and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
At approximately 6:40 p.m., Middleborough Police Lt. Todd Bazarewsky and Officer Terry Meleski responded to the area of 356 Marion Road after receiving a report from a woman who said there was a motor vehicle crash outside of her house.
Upon arrival, the officers came upon a red 2009 Hyundai Elantra sedan that had gone off the road and crashed into a tree. The front-end of the vehicle sustained heavy damage.
The officers quickly pulled the driver, later identified as Duphily, from the vehicle and began to give him medical aid. Duphily was alone in the vehicle.
A short time later, members of the Middleborough Fire Department and Brewster Ambulance Service arrived on scene. Duphily was taken by a Brewster ambulance to Tobey Hospital in Wareham where he was later pronounced dead.
The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) was called to the scene to investigate the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Marion Road was temporarily closed while first responders were at the scene. The road has since been reopened and the scene has been cleared.
