Man in 30s, woman in 20s, deceased after morning highway crash in Barrington
Two people are dead after a highway crash Saturday morning.
According to Police Chief Michael Correia, just before 8:15 a.m., the Barrington Dispatch Center received a call through the E 911 center of car “accident with possible injuries”, additionally “vehicle in the woods” on the Wampanoag Trail, heading southbound at the Barrington / East Providence line.
Barrington Police Department and Barrington Fire Department personnel responded. Upon arrival, Officers found a single car off the roadway in the woods. The vehicle sustained heavy damage.
Both occupants, a male operator in his 30’s and a female passenger in her 20’s were transported to RI Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Both parties were seat belted.
Speed appears to be a factor. Barrington Police accident reconstruction Officers and Detectives are investigating.
Next of kin have not yet been notified.
Correia offered his sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
