A serious crash has claimed the life of one person and injured two others.

According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Sunday, a witness reported to Massachusetts State Police that a motor vehicle was operating dangerously and erratically on Route 1 northbound in Foxborough. Simultaneous to that call an MSP Trooper assigned to a road detail, also on Route 1 northbound in Foxborough, observed the suspect vehicle, a 2020 Nissan Altima, pass his location in the work zone at an extremely high rate of speed. The Nissan almost struck a worker on the detail who had re-entered his truck mere seconds earlier.

The Trooper pulled out to begin to attempt to catch up to the Nissan. A pursuit was initiated under command and control of Troop H Headquarters. Before the Trooper could reach the speeding suspect vehicle, Troop Headquarters terminated the pursuit. The Trooper acknowledged termination of the pursuit.

The Nissan, which never stopped operating excessive speed, then collided with the rear of a Subaru Forrester that was northbound at the intersection of Route 1 and Old Post Road in Sharon.

The impact of the collision resulted in fatal injuries to the operator of the Subaru, 21-year-old Kevin Earley, of Sharon.

After striking the Subaru, the suspect vehicle crossed into the southbound lane where it struck a Dodge Durango.

The operator of the Nissan was transported with non-life threatening injuries to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where remains at this hour under MSP guard; he is in custody and faces criminal charges including motor vehicle homicide and related offenses. He is identified as Nicholas Snyder, 22, of Wrentham.

The driver of the Dodge Durango also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Norfolk County. Sharon Police and Fire also responded and assisted. No further information is available at this time.
