Man dies in fatal drowning at Plymouth pond

PLYMOUTH — Chief G. Edward Bradley reports that the Plymouth Fire Department responded to a fatal drowning at White Island Pond earlier today.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., Plymouth Fire Engine 4 responded to a 911 call for a reported drowning after a male victim was pulled from the water at White Island Pond in the area of Arrowhead Road. The victim was reportedly found by a jet ski operator who brought the victim to shore prior to calling 911.

First responders were able to get the man out of the water and began performing CPR on the victim, who was unresponsive. Brewster Ambulance Service also responded and assumed patient care.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

The matter is under investigation by the Plymouth Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.

There have been multiple drownings in Massachusetts in recent weeks.

Last month, two boys drowned in a Brockton Park.

Also last month, a 16-year-old boy drowned in Framingham, and a man drowned in Milton.
