Man dies after fight in Newport, police release name of victim
A man has died after a reported altercation yesterday afternoon.
According to Lieutenant April Amaral, at approximately 3:47 p.m., a 911 call was made to the Newport Fire Department for two men fighting and both were bleeding in the area of Dudley Avenue in Newport.
The deceased is identified as Davide Semenza, a 43-year-old man who currently resides in Newport, Rhode Island. Semenza was declared dead at 4:39 p.m. at Newport Hospital after succumbing to multiple stabbing injuries that occurred at 12 Dudley Avenue in Newport.
The second male, also of Newport, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He had no stabbing injuries, but received injuries during the incident.
Amaral stated that due to the ongoing investigation, no other details would be released at this time.
