A man working for a Massachusetts delivery service is being accused of stealing from a client.

According to Chief Michael Carbone, on Saturday, Duxbury Detective Flynn opened up a larceny investigation after receiving a report from a resident of Tide Acres Lane who reported her diamond ring had been stolen. Detective Flynn spoke with the victim who explained her diamond ring worth over $14,000 was on her nightstand earlier in the day and was now missing.

After observing new furniture in the bedroom, Detective Flynn asked the victim when and who delivered the furniture. The victim told the detective she ordered the furniture from Villa House, who had contracted out the delivery to “white glove” service. Detective Flynn had the scene processed and several unknown fingerprints were lifted.

The furniture was delivered by two adult males in a white truck with no lettering and believed to have Rhode Island plates. Detective Flynn contacted the furniture company, who advised him they used a delivery service located in New Jersey. After contacting the delivery company in New Jersey, they stated the items were shipped from a warehouse located in Canton MA.

Detective Flynn identified the warehouse in Canton and was able to determine who delivered the furniture. Once the Detective spoke with management in Canton he was able to obtain the names of the two delivery men.

After questioning the two delivery men, Detective Flynn recovered the ring and filed charges.

28-year-old Randdy Soriano will be charged with Larceny from a building and Larceny over $1200.00.

It’s great that Detective Flynn could recover this woman’s diamond ring. Yes, the person that decided to pocket it is a complete piece of trash and it’s a good thing he left his finger prints behind so he could be caught. However, I want everyone to think about this incident for just a split second, because I know that’s all it will take to come up with the answer. Now, here’s my question: how many that read this story would have left a ring of that value sitting out anywhere in your house knowing strangers would be coming to deliver your furniture? Not to remind everyone that the diamond ring with a value of $14,000 or maybe more was left out on a nightstand within the room where the furniture would be delivered, probably within a few feet from where the thief would be standing. Sorry, but this woman certainly could have protected her valuables much better than she did so this could have been avoided. People you don’t know should NEVER be trusted. When it comes to something of dollar value or sentimental value it really should be protected. People will have friends, close family members and even closer loved ones. Does that mean any of them should be trusted around items of dollar value or sentimental value. I say, “NO!” It’s like putting a huge pile of raw meat in the middle of an empty room and letting a very hungry wild tiger loose in there and then walk away. You shouldn’t act surprised that the meat is gone and the tiger looks very content curled up sleeping.

Maybe the woman was a trusting soul but I guess you can’t be like that anymore. You can’t trust no one. That is a shame
