Man convicted of murdering 10-year-old in Massachusetts arrested in Rhode Island on several gun and drug charges

A man who served two decades for a crime in Massachusetts is facing several new charges in Rhode Island.
According to police, on Monday, the Pawtucket Police Department’s Narcotics Unit conducted a court-authorized search warrant at an address on North Bend Street in the city of Pawtucket after a narcotics investigation involving the distribution of Cocaine and Fentanyl throughout the city and surrounding communities.
Detectives located and seized a 10mm Glock-29 Semi-automatic handgun, a 9mm Glock-19 semi-automatic handgun with an automatic Glock switch, several high-capacity magazines, a 50-round 9mm magazine drum, several hundred rounds of various ammunition, approximately $8,100.00 in cash, approximately 55 grams of Fentanyl, approximately 20 grams of Cocaine, digital scales, cutting agents, and packaging material.

The suspect in this investigation, 40-year-old Joseph Cousin of Pawtucket, had been previously charged and convicted with 2nd Degree Murder of a 10-year-old child in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 2002 and had served approximately 21 years in State Prison.
Cousins was charged with:
- Manufacturing/ Delivery/Possession (Fentanyl)
- Manufacturing/Delivery/Possession (Cocaine)
- Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of a Controlled Substance 2 counts
- Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon (2 separate charges)
- Maintaining a Common Nuisance
- Possession of a High Capacity Magazine (6 separate charges)
- Modification of Semi-automatic Weapon (Glock switch)
- Alteration of Marks of Identification on Firearms (Obliterated Serial Number)
- Carry Pistol or Revolver without License or Permit (2 separate charges)
Cousins was held without bail Tuesday after not issuing a plea at arraignment.
