Man arrested, charged, in wrong-way crash on Route 495 that killed Kerrie Dolbashian
A man is being charged in a wrong way fatal crash that occurred two months ago.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, back in May, MSP received calls reporting a wrong way driver going south on the northbound side of 495 in Mansfield; cruisers started responding to the area in an attempt to locate/stop the wrong way vehicle.
Cruisers arrived at the scene to find a head-on crash caused by the wrong way driver. Subsequent investigation indicated that the wrong-way vehicle, a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder being operated by a 35-year-old Gonsahn Kamara of Pawtucket, traveled southbound on Route 495 north, collided head-on with a 2019 Toyota Camry that had been traveling in the correct direction on Route 495 north.
The driver of the Toyota had obvious fatal injuries at the scene. She was identified as Kerrie Dolbashian, 31, of Smithfield, R.I. Kamara suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Med-Flight to Brigham and Woman’s Hospital.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Kamara was arrested and charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide OUI Liquor, OUI Liquor -2nd offense, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, Marked Lanes Violation, and Motor Vehicle Lights Violation.
Kamara was arraigned Tuesday and released on $5,000 bail with conditions of release to include a SCRAM alcohol and location bracelet (3 times daily) and no driving during the pendency of the case.
The BCDAO also stated that Kamara also has an outstanding matter in Wrentham District Court.
The Mansfield case is scheduled for pretrial conference in September.
