Man arrested after crash that severely damages three traveling vehicles in Norton
Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred late Friday.
According to Norton Police, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Norton Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of Newland Street at Kings Lane for a report of a motor vehicle crash.
Crews found three vehicles with heavy damage involved in the crash. The three vehicles were all traveling in the same direction on Newland Street when the third vehicle in line, a pick-up truck operated by Joshua Tibbetts, 18, of East Bridgewater, attempted to pass the two vehicles in front of him. At the same time, the first vehicle in line, a Jeep Cherokee, was attempting to make a left turn into Kings Lane. The pick-up truck sideswiped the vehicle in front of it and then struck the turning vehicle.
Tibbetts was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of alcohol.
All passengers were treated at the scene by Norton Fire personnel and released.
Tibbetts was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, minor in possession of alcohol, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.
Tibbetts will appear in the Attleboro District Court on Tuesday, 1/21/2020.
The crash is under investigation by Ptlm. John Worrall.
