Man arrested after being accused of threatening to blow up place of employment in Massachusetts, building evacuated

A man has been arrested after threatening to blow up a Massachusetts business that he is employed at.

According to Chief Brian Clark, today at just after 10:00 a.m., Norton Police and Fire responded to Pitney Bowes Global Logistics, LLC, 15 Leonard Street, for a report of a possible bomb threat.

Police were informed that an employee of the company had made a previous bomb threat on Monday and was told not to report to work today. When the employee, identified as 59-year-old William Brown, of Pawtucket, arrived at the business today, he was told to leave the premises.

A supervisor of the business contacted police and stated that Brown had already briefly entered the building and was fleeing the scene. The supervisor was able to give a description of the vehicle Brown was operating. Upon arrival of emergency personnel, employees of the business were evacuated, and that area of Leonard Street was closed.

Police were able to locate Brown nearby on East Main Street, stopped his vehicle, and placed him into custody.

The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad assigned to the Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and conducted a search of the building with the assistance of Norton police and fire personnel. The building was cleared a short time later and employees were allowed to re-enter.

Brown is charged with a terroristic threat (bomb), disorderly person, and disturbing the peace.
