Vandals have struck again at a local cemetery.

The Assonet Burying Ground on South Main Street in Assonet on Thursday night was surrounded by spray painted graves. Some of the tombstones belonging to war veterans, and some belong to loved ones such as Kaylee Therrien who passed away due to a freak accident.

Kaylee was Casey Bilodeaux’s sister and Casey is hoping that someone saw those involved in spray painting her grave in addition to the other headstones.

What is even more painful for Kaylee’s family is how cruel those involved were in what they left behind.

“It’s really awful. My parents are at a loss for words- it’s disgusting to deface someone’s grave, just a horrible act- but to also take the time to think and put “my head hurts” on the headstone of someone who died of head trauma literally makes me sick to my stomach. She was 23 when she passed, literally a kid. Not to mention all the war veterans or young kids that they also tagged with weird/offensive things.”

In March, dozens of gravestones were vandalized at White’s Cemetery in Freetown including Devin Carrier’s bench.

In May, vandals struck again at White’s.

Casey is hoping the media attention will lead to the culprit.

“The more people who know- the more likely this will kick up leads or just push people to be on the lookout.”
