Long awaited basketball rims being reinstalled in Fall River

Since Massachusetts entered phase 3 of the COVID-19 reopening, some residents have been complaining they couldn’t play basketball.

That is about to change.

According to the Mayor’s Office, the City of Fall River and the Department of Community Maintenance will be putting the rims back up at the city’s basketball courts starting today.

“We understand that the basketball courts are an important role in the city, especially in the lives of our young people. Having clean, safe parks where residents can be active is beneficial to our community in many ways.”

The City is urging players to be cautious and engage in social distancing as much as possible while using the courts.

“Players should engage in non-contact drills, sanitize and limit physical contact whenever possible. We do understand that basketball games involve a lot of physical contact and hope all players practice as many safety procedures as possible.”
