Local man with long criminal history indicted on first-degree sexual assault charge
A local man with a long criminal history is facing a disturbing charge.
According to the Rhode Island Attorney General, the Statewide Grand Jury recently returned an indictment charging 36-year-old Jason Fernandes, of Cranston, with one count of first-degree sexual assault.
The alleged act occurred in the city of Cranston sometime between November 1, and December 31, 2020. The Cranston Police Department conducted the investigation.
Fernandes has a list of prior charges that mainly consist of driving offenses, larceny, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on July 20, 2022, in Kent County Superior Court.
