Local friends trying to get man back home after drowning in Rhode Island pool
Friends are trying to help bring a man back home who died of an apparent accidental drowning in Rhode Island.
29-year-old Souleymane Diagne was found unresponsive while cooling off in a pool Thursday at Last Resort at 325 Farnum Pike in Smithfield. The location has a restaurant, bar, and pool.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Diagne was a caring friend, and genuine human being. Others described him as an amazing, hardworking, person.
Diagne is originally from Senegal, where his family still lives, and those who know him are looking to get him back there to be buried near his family.
While friends continue that effort, police continue to investigate the incident.
