Local agencies combine to rescue 94-year-old man with health issues

DARTMOUTH, MA – On Monday, November 2, 2020 at approximately 4:40 p.m., Dartmouth Police responded to Emerald Drive after receiving a call that a ninety-four year old man suffering from a medical condition was missing.

According to the Dartmouth Police Department, upon arrival, officers learned that the man had been missing since approximately 1:00 p.m., and was oxygen dependent.

In addition to placing a reverse 9-1-1 call, assistance was requested from a Dartmouth Police K-9, the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, and the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC) Search and Rescue team.

As the documented exterior temperature that day was 37 degrees, officers immediately starting searching the area for the man.
At approximately 5:20 p.m., Officers Christopher Sniger and Jorge Silva located the male laying on the ground in a wooded area approximately ¼ of a mile away.

After being assessed at the scene by emergency medical personnel, the male was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

According to Chief Brian P. Levesque, “This is the perfect example of how teamwork and training all came together flawlessly. I could not be more proud of the members of this department who, in all likelihood, saved this gentleman’s life.”
