The new Lizzie Borden movie aptly named “Lizzie” opens this week.
“Lizzie” stars Chloë Sevigny as Lizzie Borden in the psychological thriller that is based on the murders of Andrew and Abby Borden. Kristen Stewart plays Bridget Sullivan, the family housekeeper.
The movie summary indicates “Lizzie” will be based on Lizzie finding a kindred spirit in the family’s live-in maid, Bridget, after a lifetime of loneliness. What starts out as a friendship turns into a secret romance. Tensions mount in the family and the mother and father are killed.
The movie was directed by Craig William Macneill and written by Bryce Kass.
The film is opening in theaters on September 14th.
The two stars also had a Q and A session where Sevigny revealed that a fateful trip to the house in Fall River, convinced her to look at Lizzie’s life through a more empathetic lens, pulling back the curtain and what might have driven her to do it.
