Light snow expected throughout Southern New England

For those looking for a White Christmas, this may be the closest we get to one.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow will fall across the area late tonight into Monday evening. Generally under an inch is expected except in the higher terrain. Snow is forecast to fall in the Fall River/New Bedford area, but it is unsure if it will stick.

The National Weather Service forecast for the Fall River area:

Today
Sunny, with a high near 39. West wind 7 to 10 mph.

Tonight
A chance of snow, mainly after 4am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 29. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Monday
A chance of snow before 11am, then a chance of rain between 11am and 5pm, then a chance of rain and snow after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Light and variable wind. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Monday Night
A slight chance of snow before 8pm, then a slight chance of snow showers between 8pm and 9pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 27. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.

Christmas Day
Sunny, with a high near 36. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
