Liberty Utilities announces gas main replacement program work in Fall River

Fall River, MA,- Liberty Utilities will be conducting required maintenance and upgrades to underground gas piping in the coming days. This past winter, recent system upgrades ensured reliable gas service during extreme weather conditions.

In early April, Liberty intends to resume construction to improve its natural gas distribution system. The company says that the improvements will make Liberty’s gas system more reliable and will reduce methane emissions.

In 2022, Liberty expects to complete approximately 21 miles of pipe replacement, with 18.5 miles of pipe being replaced in the City of Fall River. Work is scheduled to begin the week of April 4th in several Fall River neighborhoods;

• The Freelove neighborhood – including Freelove St, Hyacinth St, New Boston Rd and many of the side streets in that neighborhood.
• The Notre Dame Cemetery neighborhood – including Dickinson St, Napoleon St and Stafford Road (from the Route 24 overpass to the RI state line) and many of the side streets in that neighborhood.
• The Oak Grove Cemetery neighborhood (east) – including Oak Grove Ave and many of the side streets in that neighborhood.
• The Oak Grove Cemetery neighborhood (west) – including Maple St, Shawmut St, Stetson St and many of the side streets in that neighborhood.
• The Stafford Square neighborhood – including Quarry St, Quequechan St and many of the side streets in that neighborhood
