Lawsuit filed against three Fall River police officers concerning alleged assault
A lawsuit has been filed against three Fall River police officers concerning an alleged assault.
Attorney Georgi J. Vogel-Rosen filed a lawsuit in federal court last week on behalf of her client, Corey Ferreira, against three Fall River police officers; Derek Oagles, Thomas Roberts, and Frederick Mello.
According to Vogel-Rosen, Ferreira seeks damages for injuries he allegedly sustained during his arrest outside of the Cove Restaurant and Marina on August 13, 2017. The lawsuit claims the three officers allegedly struck Ferreira while he was handcuffed and offering no resistance. Vogel-Rosen states that Ferreira suffered multiple serious injuries, including facial fractures with likely permanent nerve damage, multiple broken ribs, and a collapsed lung.
Vogel-Rosen stated that her client tried to obtain video footage of the incident in which charges were eventually dropped.
“Ferreira made several efforts to locate surveillance footage from outside the Cove Restaurant. State district court judges issued two bench warrants for the owner of the surveillance video company contracted by Cove, but the footage was never produced. All criminal charges against Ferreira were ultimately dropped.”
When Fall River Reporter contacted Fall River Police for comment on the lawsuit, Lt. Dan Dube stated that Chief Cardoza will be speaking with the law department due to the pending litigation and has no comment at this time.

this is nothing but a lawsuit of opportunity. With all the disdain against the police these days this guy and his ambulance chasing lawyer are looking for a payday. Stop getting blackout drunk in the bars and acting like a foolish child. If you challenge and resist the police you may get you a$$ beat.

Ok “Liberty”. You do know one of the defendants, Thomas Roberts, was also suspended for falsifying police reports concerning another officer’s police brutality investigation? Also, last I checked, going to nightclubs wasn’t a crime. Neither is drinking alcohol when over 21 and trying to do the right thing by taking a taxi home! Get a life.

Stop being a troll! Derek Oagles is also a decorated marine but I’m sure you didn’t know that. Maybe you’ll end up like your stupid friend when your hanging out abusing alcohol. I’ll take the life I’m living over yours anyday. Hows the expired ramen noodles in your mothers basement?
