Lane closures to take place on Route 195 and Brayton Point Road Bridge in Somerset
SOMERSET – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is announcing it will be conducting routine inspection of Brayton Point Road Bridge over I-195 in Somerset on Tuesday, December 14 and Wednesday, December 15. The inspections require lane closures on the bridge and on I-195, but traffic will be permitted on the roadways during the inspections.
The daytime work is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14 and Wednesday, December 15 with alternating lane closures on the Brayton Point Bridge. There will be no lanes closed on I-195 during daytime work hours.
The overnight work is scheduled from 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14 to 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15.
The breakdown lane and the right travel lane on I-195 westbound will be temporarily closed leaving two lanes open for traffic. As work progresses the westbound lanes will be reopened and the breakdown lane and the right travel lane on I-195 eastbound will be temporarily closed leaving two lanes open for traffic. When the work in the eastbound lane is complete and as traffic lightens, the high-speed land and middle travel lane on I-195 westbound will be temporarily closed leaving one lane open for traffic. As work progresses, the westbound lanes will be reopened and the high-speed lane and middle travel lane on I-195 eastbound will be temporarily closed leaving one lane open for traffic. All lanes are expected to be open by 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15.
Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
