Lane and ramp closures expected in the coming days on Route 24 and I-195 in Fall River

FALL RIVER – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced it will be conducting sign installation operations on I-195 and Route 24 northbound in Fall River.

According to MassDOT, the work is expected to begin on Sunday, April 24, and will take place nightly, Sunday through Friday, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following mornings. The work is anticipated to be in place for three weeks. A minimum of one travel lane will be kept open at all times.

The work will require intermittent lane closures and rolling roadblocks on I-195 eastbound and westbound between exit 10 and exit14B and on Route 24 northbound between exit 1A and exit 3. Rolling roadblocks will be performed between the hours of midnight and 4:00 a.m. Traffic may be stopped for a maximum of 20 minutes at a time.

The work will also require a temporary ramp closure from Route 24 northbound at exit 2 to I-195 eastbound from 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25, through 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26. A detour will be in place as follows:

Traffic along Route 24 northbound will be directed to I-195 westbound
Take exit 13 (Plymouth Avenue) off of I-195 westbound
Take a left onto I-195 eastbound
Traffic to continue on I-195 eastbound to exit 14A (Route 24 southbound)
Continue on Route 24 southbound to exit 2 (Brayton Avenue)

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
