Lakeville illness call leads to firefighters rescuing driver in serious crash
A fever/flu call in Lakeville led to firefighters encountering a serious crash early Monday morning.
According to the Lakeville Fire Department, a call came into dispatch at approximately 12:45 a.m. for a man with fever, flu, and vomiting. The ill man was transported to the hospital. When firefighters went to retrieve the man’s vehicle, they drove up on a car crash in the area of 40 Main Street.
Ambulance 2, Engine 1, Engine 2, and Car 1 were called to the scene.
The female driver, which was the only occupant in the vehicle, was entrapped behind the wheel. Rescuers needed the jaws of life to extricate the victim. The driver was freed in less then 10 minutes after the engine company arrived, according to LFD.
The woman was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.
